Pastoral care in Thames Valley College is put in place to ensure adequate well-being and welfare of our students at all-time.  Pastoral care as the “oil of learning”, is seen not as the destination but the nourishment for the learning on campus. We, in Thames Valley College, place much premium on our students, because they are much more precious and valuable. We see them as responsible leaders of tomorrow and that is why it behooves on us to train them to be honourable; responsible and disciplined leaders anytime and anywhere they found themselves.

Boarding life in Thames Valley College is fun. Presently, there are two houses, one each for boys and girls. Our typical ensuite room consisting of bathroom and toilet is built to accommodate four students.  In each of the rooms, there is a wall mounted split unit air-conditioner, a 3½ inch double bunk bed and reading table for students’ use. There are resident parents in the two houses accordingly. The students have been inculcated with the spirit of communalism by the college “Never-say-fed-up” House Parents. They are extremely comfortable. The general common room is installed with cable satellite with stringent guidance of the House Parents on the choice of cable stations to be watched by our students to avoid breeding immorality in them.

Creative thinking and analysis practiced by our students enhances their emotional balance and this in turn facilitates their pleasing academic outputs. There is a healthy interpersonal relationship existing among the students and their college mentors. The college pays special attention to students’ individual needs, academically and morally. Our pastoral staffs are able to identify each child’s uniqueness and learning pattern. This has helped us to monitor each student’s total upbringing.

Our Students’ Representative Council is used as a forum to practically inculcate into our students some leadership traits. The students, in each house, take up various related portfolios: House President, House Speaker, Deputy Speaker, Clerk, Chief Whip, Chief Judge, Chief Superintendent, Sports Director, Health Officer etc. This has really been fun and educative as they get to know what responsible leadership is. Entrepreneurial training is being taught the students as we expose them to Financial Literacy Skills through the use of our in house monetary mechanism system.

The college policy against bullying encourages respect for one another, equality and zero level of occurrence of acts of bullying. Our uncompromising nutrition package, which is prepared in a highly hygienic environment, ensures that balanced diets and good quantity are given to our students. Our Food Quality and Administration Control Committee’s reports have always been attesting to the overwhelming expression of satisfaction by our students.

Our parents are of utmost importance to the school community. This is because we see them as formidable partners in progress in ensuring collective and adequate upbringing of our students. As a result, they are allowed to speak with their children on phone during the college’s parental phoning hours on Saturdays and Sundays at specified hours. They use this medium to encourage their children and wards to continue to be of good manner thereby consolidating the filial love. Communication and feedback are very important in our college.
