Principal’s Message

“A Total Child is a whole and functional youth who has been exposed to a holistic education which embraces the training and development of soft life skills. An education beyond memorizing and repeating information for tests or exams so as to fit in and function effectively in the ever dynamic 21st century.”

At Thames Valley College, we offer a well-rounded and balanced education in view of a Total Child concept. We spice up academic programs (drawn from a well-blended dual curricula of British and Nigerian) with the development of some success life skills which we consider to be highly essential for producing active and global citizens. In no particular order, these life skills include; creativity, agility & Adaptability, ICT savviness, effective written and oral communication, social intelligence, initiative & entrepreneurship and Critical thinking & problem solving. This has become pertinent as global concerns are growing about how schools current curriculums should prepare students for the ever demanding and dynamic adult life. Thus, our vision of providing global standard education in an international environment and core values (Honesty, Integrity, Discipline, Team work and Mutual respect ) have become daily work tools for both staff and students.

In every child lies distinct set of potentials. And so, in Thames Valley College, we are committed to discover, nurture, polish and harness every bit of abilities and skillset in our students till they are full-blown. That is why our purpose built sports complex and the varying co-curricular activities we carry out, stress the essence of sports and games in the school as they go beyond mere benefit of physical and mental alertness. Our indoor and outdoor activities, help boost students’ self-esteem, instill the spirit of discipline and dedication; foster team spirit, co-operation and leadership skills; builds self-confidence, inculcate time management skills and so much more.

Our students’ moral and spiritual well-being is another integral aspect we value. As such, we make provision for religious worship for both Christian and Muslim Students. This is in a bid to teach tolerance, peaceful co-existence and building healthy relationships among our ethnically diverse students.

Our leadership team has adopted the leadership by design concept. As such, our leadership strategies are deliberately structured and more effectively integrated with talent management and development programs. These have helped to pay strong attention and respect to building institutional frameworks to support continuous and sustainable governance of the College as a whole.

In conclusion, we believe that both teaching and learning should be interesting, engaging and easily relatable to the real world in order to drive home in-depth understanding of concepts and theories. This will go beyond excelling in standardized tests or exams to include sound grooming in social and vocational skills that will help attune students to the competitive realities, needs and emerging opportunities of this century. This is the sum of exposures and experiences our students garner in the course of their academic journey here at Thames Valley College.
